Burnout

If someone hands me another worksheet on self-care, I may combust. We know what burn-out feels like, but what is it and how do we fix/prevent it?

Reflection - In this session, participants discussed the common signs and causes of burnout. We then began brainstorming possible supports that we would like to see in our own districts to prevent burnout. The next session I lead on this topic, I'd like to dig more specifically into systemic change and what supports teachers could benefit from the most.

Equitable PD

Providing equal opportunities for our students will require equal opportunities for our teachers. Currently, there is a disparity in the accessibility of high quality professional development across the state. How can we make quality PD more accessible and support teachers during implementation?

Reflection - In this session, participants reflected on their experiences with district provided professional development (PD). I introduced my Individualized Development Plan (IDP) approach to PD the intention of which is to make PD more responsive to the needs and learning preferences of each individual teacher. Participants then began their own IDPs and reflecting on their PD preferences.
